Pierre’s Story
Pierre is a native son of Ithaca, born to parents who came here from India and Venezuela. As the child of two immigrants brought together by Ithaca, Pierre loves this city, and wants to serve the communities on both South and East Hills by representing them on the County Legislature.
Over the past year, Pierre has served on Common Council, where he still serves. In that time, he has represented the City of Ithaca to the Tompkins County Council of Governments, the Tompkins County Legislature, and the Town of Ithaca Town Board. He has also served as Common Council’s liaison to the Sustainability and Climate Justice Commission, and as Chair of the Working Group on City Commissions.
A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Pierre received a Bachelor of Science in Ethics, History, and Public Policy, as well as an additional major in Science, Technology, and Public Policy. He also minored in Politics and Public Policy, as well as in Societal and Human Impacts of Future Technologies. During his time at CMU, he founded the University’s Democrats Club and completed capstone work on neighborhood decarbonization, racism in housing, and supply chain issues in electric vehicles. After his time in Pittsburgh, Pierre was overjoyed to come home to Ithaca to study at Cornell Law School, from which he graduated with a Juris Doctor, and a specialization in Public Law.
Pierre’s fascination with government began at the Lehman Alternative Community School, where he was Chair of the Student Executive Committee, as well as elected President of the School. During this time, he also served as a student representative to the ICSD Board of Education and worked with the city and county governments.
Additionally, Pierre worked for Max Della Pia during both his 2018 and 2022 Congressional runs, and for the Democratic National Committee during the 2020 Presidential election.
